LOST CUSTOMER/OUTRAGEOUS RETURN POLICY, COSTA MESA, CA

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have been a prolific Chico's customer for over 25 years. Stuck with $300 in merchandise I cannot use (family emergency and items 30 days over return policy). WILL NO LONGER SHOP AT CHICOS. Only in the last 2-3 years have I had the occasion to return or exchange items. If you buy on line and want to return or exchange in the stores, good luck. The stores despise returns. A Newport Beach manager gave me a long explanation that it interferes with their store's sales numbers. I agree with other customers. Extend store credit to your loyal customers after 60 days. Chico loses nothing. Every store that I purchase from gives this option, even though I rarely use this benefit.

Look. The company lost 25 MILLION dollars in 2015 taking back items past the 60 day return policy.

The policy is on the website, as well as your receipt. Don't complain about the company because of your mistake.

People like you are what makes me happy I don't work there any more.

That's called the cost of doing business. You can take anything back to a Chicos store store that was purchased online.

The Delray marketplace store mgr is FAMOUS for *** & complaining about her 'returns.' She insults the customers & there are ppl who will NOT shop if she is in the store. Pushy obnoxious woman

The manager was extremely rude not once but twice. She dismissed me as I waited to pay for 2 necklaces. When she was asked a question from the sales woman ringing me up she waved her hand a said that she was on a three way call and didn't I see that. I have not been treated in such a rude and dismissive matter. I said to the sales woman. I am done and will not be back. The manager waved to me as if she was dismissing me. I will never go back and see why the chandler store is empty.

Chicos - Blouse Review from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

I bought several clothing items in June before my Florida vacation. Two of those items were linen blouses. Unaware of the strict return policy, I finally went to the store to return the blouses the other day. They would not allow me to return them or exchange them for something else. I even emailed the customer service and they supplied me with a link that had BOTH of the tops in the actual size that I needed but they would not let me exchange my brand new blouses that are unworn with the tags still intact. Each blouse was $89.00 and the fact that they have the ones I need and it would be absolutely no loss on their part to exchange them for another size of the exact same top, makes me conclude that 1) Chicos does not really care about their customers and 2) strictly adhering to their return/exchange policy is more important than their customer's satisfaction. You can call me one pissed off customer and one that will be finding another women's clothing store to shop at. Maybe that is the problem? Unfortunately they don't have much competition.

Um, you realize you could have returned your clothing to ANY chico's store in the country...why didn't you just bring it on your Florida vacation (And Chico's has TONS of stores in Florida, as their headquarters are in Fort Meyers and the first store EVER was on Sanibel Island Florida). If you had been such a good customer you would have known they have always had a 60 day return policy, but because of customers like you, they are now super strict about it.

I just tried to return some clothes for a store credit at the store in Branson Mo at the landing. As soon as I said I wanted to make a return, I was ignored for about 10 minutes as the manager was with a disgruntled customer. When it was my turn, I was told by the manager that there are no exceptions to the 60 day return policy even with a receipt and even for items ordered prior to the 60 day period but received within the 60 day period. The manager was very rude... she turned her back away from me and did not even hand me back my merchandise. I had to retrieve it from the counter behind the register. I am a good customer of Chicos but their return policy and the rudeness of the manager of this particular store has turned me off.

Failure to provide confirmation of e-mail order.

The order day, I placed an order for an item from the Chico's website. As is the customary business practice of any company when ordering on-line, a confirmation e-mail of the order is sent to the consumer.

Well, the confirmation was never sent and when I checked my order on the website, it indicated that the item had already been shipped. I contacted Chico's via the "Chat" and informed the employee that an email confirmation was never sent. Her response was "I'll send you one now." 2 days after the order, and the fact that the package was already in transit for deliver, NOW YOU SEND A CONFIRMATION EMAIL?

Really, seriously, how incompetent can a person be. Very poor customer service with no common sense.

Non published, fraudulent return policy

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Chicos has a 60 day return policy. Most stores will give you a merchandise credit if the return time has expired.

Not Chico's! and they don't tell you about there hidden return policy. No where on their website, back of receipt, or on their mail order receipt does it say that after 60 days you will not receive ANY refund. They would keep a lot more customers if this policy was spelled out.

All they need to add is "no refunds after 60 days" to get people's attention and keep customers. I am no longer a customer. I was told at my local store in Dallas, TX that it has been in place for a year.

Okay fine if you change your policy but why keep it hidden. This is false advertising and fraud.

Well it’s been almost 5 years since I stepped foot in a chicos. I also took every piece out of my closet and donated or sold at resale.

To everyone who commented who doesn’t get it, the store would not have lost any money or this customer if they had given me a store credit after 60 days. And it absolutely does not say that they will not take back after 60 days no matter what you geniuses say.

They always gave store credit and changed without any notice. Even the sales person admitted it.

Other companies give store credit. In other words THEY DON'T LOSE money because you must use the store credit at their store! But chicos is too *** to understand that as well as you.

Guest

Actually, it is on the back of the receipt...it's also posted on a plaque at the cash register. SO...Liar Liar pants on fire.

No actually the customer can't. I used to work for chico's.

I know exactly where the return policy is stated..on a plaque that is GLUED to the register area (in front of every single register).

It is on the invoice when you order online, and the receipt tape comes with the return policy on the back. You are an ***.

I will never shop at the Chicos store in west Delray Beach Florida again. They must be pretty desperate for business after hurricane Matthew came through because my friend & I felt SO pressured to buy the things we tried on. The salespeople hang all over you & don't give you a minute to think. My friend also actually saw the manager, who has a very obnoxious big mouth, cursing out one of the salespeople. She should be fired for behaving like that.

I purchased a turtleneck on line and needed a change of size. I went to my local store North Park Mall, Davenport Iowa.

They had the correct size but refused to let me make an even exchange of the exact same item because I had made the grievous error of purchasing the turtleneck with PayPal!! I was not asking for a refund or credit, just an even exchange. I've been shopping at this store for years and spend a lot of $$.

They know me. I'll never shop there again!!

If you ordered online via Paypal you have to return it to the online division. You can not return it via the store as the store does not have the account information.

How difficult is that to understand?

CHICO'S CLOTHES MADE LIKE GARBAGE

I bought a pair of pants from Chico's and, after wearing them only once and not even washing them, the entire waistband unraveled. The waistband was separated from the pants, just hanging by a thread.

When I took them back to the Chico's store in Los Altos, CA they refused to return them or provide any credit whatsoever. Another customer there, who is a sewer, said the reason they unraveled is because the waistband had been serged on.

Any way you look at it, Chico's does not stand behind its products and that's the end of my $6K/year Chico's habit. I will never shop at Chico's again!!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I will never shop in your store again. I am a loyal 12+ year customer.

Was treated badly at Marietta GA store today. Recently bought 4 items totaling $135.93. Used a $50 gift card and put the rest on my Amex. ($85.93)

Returned two items totaling $72.00.

They refused to credit my Amex. Further they insisted on giving me a $72.00 gift card because that was the only option the computer would give me. When I questioned this I was told they they are "cracking down" on returns. I had the receipt and purchase was under 2 weeks ago.

Is this even legal?

I will be giving the gift card to charity. Never again will I step foot in that store.

Usually stores refund in the same tenders. When I returned to T.J.Maxx and used $20 as store credit and paid rest in cash, they refunded me same way, cash and then $20 gift card.....

Guest

Such a grossly incorrect action. If you paid w an Amex your return goes back in your Amex..

Cash gets back cash & so on & so on. That was completely wrong.

You should loudly complain to their 'customer service dept.' what great service. Or even better call the store & get the NAME of the district mgr &can email address or phone number

Actually, many stores do this now. Especially if you paid with the gift card first..

its how the computer recognizes refund payments. Its all in the software nowadays. I only know because I used to work at Chico's.

The manager could've simply hit the ESC button and it would have given the option to go back on the card. Only if your return was more than the amount you used your AMEX to pay with would you have no option but to take the 80 something on your AMEX and the remain portion of the return on a credit.

Very disappointed! My 19 purchased a $100 gift card from Chico's for a Mother's Day gift for me. The bag I had it in was lost or stolen. My daughter went to the store where the card was purchased along with the receipt to report the card lost/stolen. She was told to call the 800 number. When I called the number I was in hopes that the card had not been used, I was told by the agent it had not been used, it can be cancelled and a new card can be issued! I was elated and awaited the card in the mail. Weeks went by but no card. Call again and was told oh no, that agent was mistaken and auditing stopped the reissue of a new card. Why didn't I receive s letter of apology about the error? Why did I have to call after waiting for weeks anticipating the new card? Why wasn't I called the next day by a manager as promised after I was told an investigation would be done since something looked strange about the transaction. Why did I have to follow up instead of getting the follow up call as promised? Couldn't this long time passport customer get some offering for the error on the part of the agent that told me the card would be replaced and for the lack of followup? Very disappointing from a retailer that I love!!!!!!!!!!

I've Complained to Chicos (MANY, MANY) Times about Lack of Size 4 in Stores

I have complained so many times to Chicos about not carrying Size 4 in the stores. When you ask the sales clerk, you usually get the response of "Oh ma'am, we don't carry your size in the store. You will have to order it online". OK - well sometimes I wear a 3 and sometimes I wear a 4. So, I waste time ordering and then when you want to return into the local store it is a problem. HEY CHICOS - STOP IT WITH THE SIZE 4 GAME. CARRY THE SIZE IN THE DAM STORE. TRY TO ((LISTEN)) TO CUSTOMERS.

Return policy

I had bought a blouse and I returned it unworn, with price tags attached. 5 days after the 60 days Return Policy.

The blouse' s color was the reason for the return. After trying it on with different, bottoms, I couldn't find one that went well.

I was not even given a store credit. When did this policy go into affect?

I have been a loyal Chico shopper for more than 15 years and never had this problem before.

Even TJMax gives store credits after months.

I feel that this policy is overly strict, and will not be shopping at Chico's in the future.

Do you see how many complaints there are about Chico's return policy? they are losing customers, period. Whether or not you think 60 days is enough time or not, with the customer's they market to, it's not acceptable for the cost of the clothing.

Guest

Wow, if it took you TWO months to figure out you didn't want something, you're a special kind of ***.

Guest

it took you two months to figure out you didn't have pants to go with a top you bought? they have always had this policy..but cause of self important self righteous customers like you, they are now super strict about it.

Guest

Now Chicos is advertising every 10 minutes on tv & has gotten on the today show supposedly 'transforming' these women into stunning creatures. They still look uncomfortable wearing endless layers of overpriced 'made in Vietnam' clothing

Guest

I mean like two months seems pretty good... and you were outside of the two months range so... your fault not theirs?

Guest

You had 2 months to return something! It has always been the policy but they are actually enforcing it now.

I also had a top that had pin holes form. I have worn this top 2 times. Chicos did not stand behind the defective garment either and the manager kind of embarrased me when i tried to get some restitution for it. She did not have the same attitude when i spent over $600.00 in her store when i purchased this top. It is a very bad business plan for this company. But lately i have noticed the quality has declined. It's okay, i can spend my money some place else. Macys & Belks have always stood behind a defective purchase. Disposable clothing is not what i choose to spend my hard earned money.

Horrible Return Policy!!

I purchased 6 items online and had my husband go to the store to return 3 of them because they didn't fit. I was only 2 days past the 60 day return policy because I broke my pelvis and was flat on my back and injured and couldn't get out to make the return.

My husband explained the situation and asked if we could have a store credit instead. The items were brand new, still in the bags with the tags attached. They refused to give us a store credit even though we hadn't even had the items for 60 days yet!! It had been 60 days since placing the order, but not since receiving the items.

I don't know another store with such a terrible policy. I called online to see if there was anything they could do and explained the circumstances, and they also refused. I used to love their clothes, and was a very loyal Chicos customer, doing most of my shopping there, but they lost me forever as a customer today.

Shame on you Chicos!!

So you broke your pelvis the day after receiving the items and your husband was unable to return them for 60 days cause you were flat on your back? Sorry, I don't buy it.

You had TWO MONTHS to return something. No one cares about what happened to you, just like no one cares if an associate is sick.

They still have to go to work. Rules apply to everyone.

Guess you should've used the preprinted return shipping label, huh? No one has sympathy in the retail world for sob stories.
